Mark D. Cox, 62, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 22, 1958, a child of the late David H. and Sylvia Schulten Cox. Mark was a hard-working jokester who loved giving people nicknames and was always the life of the party. He loved his mom and family and was proud to be a “mama’s boy”. Mark was also a sports fanatic. He enjoyed watching the Derby and University of Louisville Cardinals, as well as the San Francisco 49ers and the Chicago Bulls. Mark will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by 2 siblings, Ronnie Matlock and Gail Heaverin; a son, Michael Howard; and a brother in law, Terry “Lou” Dwayne Wilson.
Left to cherish his memory, Mark leaves behind his best friend and brother, Steve Wojciechowski; ex-wife and friend, Tina Cox; 7 children, David Howard, Christa Belle Grubb (Joey), Mitchell Howard, Mallory Cox, Brandy Cox, Mark Cox Jr., and Mercaedes Cox; 3 grandchildren, Destany Gatewood, Dalton Howard and Courtney Grubb; in-laws, Phyllis Matlock and Tim Heaverin; 3 great grandchildren; 2 nephews, David Allison and Joshua Allison; and a host of extended family and friends.
A funeral service for Mr. Mark D. Cox will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Noon at Legacy Funeral Center – Schoppenhorst Chapel, 1832 W. Market Street, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 1 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home.
